Mission San Jose

Nestled at the base of Mission Peak on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay the City of Fremont is a vibrant and diverse community.  There are five districts that comprise Fremont.  Each district has its own atmosphere and unique attributes, making the Fremont experience rich with extensive culture and history. Fremont retains a small town atmosphere within its community and at the same time provides a supportive environment for business and living.

I've put together a brief overview that describes the five districts and I will be posting information on this blog about each in a five part series. The first one is Mission San Jose

The historic Mission San Jose district is a very desirable area for home buyers and families.  It is located just off of Highway 680 and sits below the foothills of Mission Peak. The district prides itself on maintaining a small town feel. In addition to its historical roots, Mission San Jose is known for its charming neighborhoods, convenient access to freeways, and a number of family-owned businesses which bring the community together.

The Mission San Jose district is also home to cultural and community centers like the impressive Olive Hyde Art Gallery, directly across the street from the Mission. Ongoing shows and exhibits bring a variety of traditional and contemporary artwork and artists to the area. Ohlone College is located just down the street from the Mission, providing an academic home for 12,000 students, as well as the Gary Soren Smith Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. The Jackson Theatre hosts a variety of dance, music and dramatic performances each year.

In their attempt to maintain that small town feel Mission San Jose host the yearly Olive Festival, Independence Day parades, and in winter a Christmas tree lighting event.

In addition, Mission San Jose has wonderful outdoor recreation areas, parks, and of course the mountainous hiking trails of Mission Peak.

Mission San Jose hosts some of the best schools in Fremont and families flock to homes in the Mission San Jose attendance area to enroll their children in Mission San Jose High School, which is ranked as the 49th best high school in the nation.  Known locally as "Mission" or MSJ, the high school was founded in 1964 and is known for its strong academics, sending 93% of its graduates to post-secondary schools.

Mission San Jose is a wonderful place to live with many home buying opportunities available.
